How to play a video on repeat on Windows 10

Looping playback, whether it’s for a single file or for an entire playlist, is a feature you will find on audio players. It makes some sense to leave it out on a video player since videos aren’t often played on a loop. That said, if you’re projecting to a screen and need a video to play on repeat, you need a video player that supports the feature.

Play video on repeat on Windows 10

There are three different ways you can play a video on repeat.

1. Play with Movies & TV app

The Movies & TV app has a loop feature which is surprising considering how basic the app is.

  1. Open the video you want to play in the Movies & TV app.
  2. Click the more options button on the control bar at the bottom.
  3. From the menu, select Repeat.
  4. The video will play, for that one instance, on repeat until you close the app or play a different video in it.

2. Loop a section of video

If you need to loop only a section of a longer video, you need a more advanced app like VLC player.

  1. Install VLC player.
  2. Open the video in VLC player.
  3. Go to View>Advanced Controls.
  4. Click the double-arrow button to loop the entire video.
  5. Click the button with AB and an arrow on top of it.
  6. The A will turn orange to indicate the starting point where the video will begin to loop.
  7. Click the point in the video that you want to loop the video to, and click the same AB button again. The B will turn orange to indicate it has registered the end-point of the loop.
  8. Play the video and it will play up until the loop starts, and being looping from that point forward.

3. Upload to YouTube

YouTube has a loop feature. If you’re not averse to uploading a video to YouTube, you can use its native looping feature.

  1. Visit YouTube and upload the video you want to play.
  2. Play the video, and right-click inside the play.
  3. Select Loop from the context menu.

Conclusion

Windows 10 is capable of projecting to all sorts of screens; you can connect a system to a TV, a projector, and a wireless display but it doesn’t offer anything other than connectivity. There is no app that allows you to control projection in any sort of way which is why you will need a third-party app for playing videos on repeat on a large screen.
