How to update login credentials for a network location on Windows 10
You can map drives and folders on Windows 10 so that they can be accessed with a single click from File Explorer. In order to map a network location, the location itself must have basic security i.e., it must be password protected. When you’re mapping the location, you have to enter the password that will grant you access to the location and you can choose to have Windows 10 remember it, or to ask you each time. If you need to update login credentials for a network location, you can do so from the Windows credentials manager.
Update network credentials on Windows 10
Open the Control Panel and go to User Accounts. Select Credential Manager. Alternatively, open File Explorer and enter the following in the location bar, and tap Enter. Click Credential Manager in the window that opens.

On the Credential Manager window click, ‘Windows Credentials’ and you will see a list of the mapped network locations under the ‘Windows Credentials’ section.
Click the one you want to edit e.g., I have a folder from my MacBook mapped to my Windows 10 PC and it’s listed under Windows Credentials by its name. If I want to change the password for this location, I will click the MacBook.
You will see an ‘Edit’ option under the item/location that you selected. Click it and on the next screen, you can enter a new username and password for accessing the location. Make sure you click Save. You should know that once you update i.e., overwrite the old login information, you will not be able to recover it.
When you next access the network location, it will use the updated username and password to connect to it.
If you’re not interested in updating the login information, and would instead like to have Windows 10 prompt you to enter it each time you access a particular location, you can simply remove it from the Credential Manager. The location will still be mapped, and it will still show up in File Explorer but when you try to access it, it will ask you for the username and password. The authentication prompt will have an option to remember the information you’ve entered. If you do not check it, you will be asked to enter it again the next time you access the location.
Updated login credentials should work automatically though in some rare cases, depending on the network location that you’re trying to access and the security settings it has, you might need to remove the location and map it all over again.
