How to Take a Screenshot on Netflix [Expert Solution]
Netflix doesn’t let you take screenshots or record screencasts, and for good reason. Screenshots might be harmless but screencasts are not. Services like Netflix have to ensure they aren’t used to pirate anything which makes the screencast ban necessary. Screenshots are just a casualty. You can take a screenshot in Netflix but you need an app for the job.
Cannot take screenshots in Netflix? We’ll teach you howIf you want to take a screenshot in Netflix on your phone, consider looking at root or jailbreak options. Much like the solution for taking a screenshot of Netflix on the desktop, the solution for phones is also complicated.

Screenshot Netflix
In order to screenshot Netflix, you need to run it in a sandbox. The best app for the job is Sandboxie; it’s feature-rich, and it’s free. Download and install it.
Run your browser in a sandbox with Sandboxie. If you have a desktop shortcut for your browser, right-click it and select the Run Sandboxed from the context menu.
The browser will have a yellow border to indicate that it is in a sandbox. Sign in to Netflix, navigate to the title you want to screenshot. Play it, and pause it at the scene you want to screenshot. Click outside the browser so that it is not active.
Windows 10 has a built-in screenshot feature which is what we’re going to use to take the screenshot. It’s best to have a screenshot utility that you can use with a keyboard shortcut. Use the Win+PrintScreen shortcut to capture a screenshot, subtitles and all.
You will, of course, need to crop it to size and everything.

You can use any app for sandboxing. If you have a different app that you like to use for sandboxing, you can try that as well. Netflix doesn’t block them but if a title doesn’t play the sandboxed browser, it is highly likely that Netflix is blocking it. You will have to use Sandboxie in that case since we know it works.
Windows 10 Pro 1909 has a built-in sandboxing feature and if you have the Pro version, that’s worth trying too. You might be forced to use Edge but regardless of which one you have i.e., Chromium Edge or Legacy Edge, it will be able to stream from the website.
If you need a VPN for a short while when traveling for example, you can get our top ranked VPN free of charge. NordVPN includes a 30-day money-back guarantee. You will need to pay for the subscription, that’s a fact, but it allows full access for 30 days and then you cancel for a full refund. Their no-questions-asked cancellation policy lives up to its name.
Nope. Sandboxie no longer works (print screen, Alt Print Screen, SnapIt, SnipIt, etc) and it doesn’t work on any browser.
Tried Opera, Edge, Chrome, etc.
All I want is a screen shot to make it a wallpaper and to draw from it, but apparently Netflix doesn’t want that.
Just turn off Hardware Acceleration in Chrome.
snipping tool doesn’t work on netflix, it makes the screen go black to stop pirating, ffs
Did you see those photos in the article? You can’t take screenshot with the web version genius.
Bruh, if you try using snipping tool, the screen blacks out. 💃
you may just take a picture of the screen.
Taking screen shot from a browser always works.
I want to know how to install and run Windows 10 apps in a sandbox. Because the picture sucks in a browser unlike in the app.
Actually just turn hardware acceleration off in the settings
Since you can only get 1080p netflix on intenet explorer, safari and edge, how can I use sandboxie or others to work on them?
Thank you!! I have been searching for months for some solution to this and this finally did it!
it worked on MUBI as well! thank you so much
USE SNIPPING TOOL FFS
Lmao, we’re doing this BECAUSE we can’t use the snipping tool, it always goes black. That’s DRM for you.
When the tool is invoked, all netflix sources go black. .. nice try bud.
If it’s that simple, everyone would be done it, and FFS, why dont you try that yourself.
Vaibhav can you name one that works?
Snipping Tool, Snip and Sketch, and PicPick all fail, the video disappears.
FYI Fatima you can now use Windows Sandbox, built into newer versions of Windows.
Are you serious? You obviously did try or read this article.
This actually does not work on my Windows 10 computer
Nope. It greys it out.
easier solution if u got internet access: just play netflix from the browser (ie not the app 😉 )
still doesn’t work..
This works for me too but my laptop is from like the early 2000s and also runs on windows 7 so i think we can only do this because we have Old Technology
