Sublight 3: Download Subtitles For Over 100,000 Movies & TV Shows
A while back, we covered Sublight, initially reviewed after its launch, and then later on when it reached version 2.6. For those who may not have heard of this application, it is a subtitle downloading utility that provides many robust options such as Windows Explorer integration, support for multiple media players including VLC, drag & drop support to insert videos, and the option to fetch subtitles from websites such as Divx Titlovi, SubDivx, PodnapisiNet, and AllSubs.
Recently, this feature rich subtitle downloader got updated to version 3, and now includes more useful features since our last review. These include the option to view TV Show air dates, the addition of prijevodi-online to the subtitle-fetching websites, support fore more media players, and languages. Hit the jump to read more on the new goodies.
Since version 2.6, Sublight has now added access to over a million subtitles for 100,000+ movies and TV shows. Users can now benefit from this tool in 19 different languages (for Sublight interface), and can download subtitles in 46 languages. You can play videos from within RAR files, choose default subtitle encoding (ANSI, custom code page, UTF-8, Unicode) and check TV Show air dates via eMovie Log website.
Sublight now supports up to 9 different video players, including BS Player, GOM Player, KMPlayer, Media Player Classic, MPC HomeCinema, SMPlayer, VLC Media Player, Windows Media Player and Zoom player. While other players may also work with Sublight, the aforementioned are the ones that are officially tested.
Another notable feature in the new version of Sublight is that it now has proxy support. This can be useful for users who have an internet connection that goes through a proxy server. You can specify the IP of your proxy server from Settings –> Proxy Settings.
The newly-added Air Dates option allows you to find out when the next episode of your favorite TV show is going live. Air dates are provided from eMovie Log website via your default browser.
Sublight version 3 also comes with a number of bug fixes, such as SublightCmd fix, which used to result in failed downloads due to the old library. Sublight works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Nice! You used pirated episodes of Fringe for your review!
Next time, when you blur the bar on the media player, trying to hide “the name of the file”, pay attention to its surroundings as well. Like, say, the bottom bar of the media player, or the filenames in the very software you review. 😀
(…and yeah, delete this after you change or blur them!)
Why else would you need this software? DVDs or Blu-Rays of TV shows and Films come with subtitles…
Yes, I know, but then, why blur the image on the first place if you publicly acknowledge the use of pirated material? 🙂
