How to stream NFL playoffs [2022 season]

The NFL Playoffs for 2021 start in early 2022. While the games remain a mostly TV-broadcast event, there are options to watch them online. That said, the games cannot be streamed on Hulu or Netflix. Instead, you will get other, cable-company related streaming options if you want to watch online.

Stream NFL Playoffs

The NFL Playoffs are tied to broadcast partners that are all cable-based networks. These networks all have online streaming solutions but they’re not free. Much like you need a Hulu subscription to watch a show on the network, you similarly need a subscription to the respective service if you want to stream NFL Playoffs online.

Peacock by NBC

NBC streams the NFL playoffs via its online streaming service Peacock. The free subscription plan does not give users access to live streams so you will need to purchase a subscription which can cost $4.99 or $9.99 per month.

If you want to stream the NFL playoffs outside the United States, you can use your Sky or Now subscriptions on the Peacock website.

DirectTV

DirectTV is one of the more expensive options for streaming the NFL playoffs. You need to, again, buy a subscription and the cheapest subscription that offers streaming of live sporting events costs $69.99 per month. The good news is that you can stream on your mobile too and you’re not restricted to a desktop.

Redzone – Streaming service add-ons

If you want to watch the NFL playoffs on Hulu or on YouTube, you can buy an additional add-0n subscription for it. This will be on top of your regular Hulu or YouTube subscription. The add-on is called Redzone and comes courtesy of DirectTV. Other platforms you can get Redzone on are;

  • Sling
  • Fubo
  • Dish
  • Xfinity
  • Fios (Verizon)

The cost for a monthly subscription is $9.99 (on top of your regular subscription price).

The NFL app

NFL has an official app for both iOS and Android however, it will not let you stream the NFL Playoffs. It is considered premium, and exclusive content. The app doesn’t offer an in-app subscription portal that you can use to sign in to e.g., a Hulu account that has the Redzone add-on. You can stream off season events in the app but the playoffs are not included.

Conclusion

The NFL Playoffs are cheapest to stream if you get Fox or ESPN with your cable subscription. For online streaming, you will have to buy a separate subscription. The good news is, if you’re only interested in a particular sport, you may only need to buy a subscription for a few months when games are on-going.
