Organize, Rename, And Tag Music Files With TagScanner
TagScanner is a comprehensive tool for organizing and managing your music collection. It supports widely used file formats and offers extensive set of tools and options for editing meta information: tags. It can also rename files in multiple ways which are based on diverse tag information, generate tag info from filenames, and perform text transformation from tags & filenames. It offers support of ID3 (V1&V2), Vorbis comments, APEv2, Windows Media and Mp4 (iTunes) tags.
The main interface is neat but confusing and baffling as there are many options, tools and controls present at top, bottom, and right-side of the window. You will see 4 main tabs; Music Renamer, Tag Editor, Tag Processor, and List Maker, containing all the relevant options and features. To start off with managing music, first you will need to specify the music archive path, click Browse at the lower part of the window to populate the list for each available feature.
It also comes with a build-in music player that helps you in tagging those music files which are untagged and have irrelevant information. At the right side, you have several placeholders to change the file name accordingly. The right-click menu offers a bunch of options like; Tag Cut, Copy, Rename folder by TAG, etc. After you’ve renamed the files, click Renamed tab at top-right corner to view the resultant files.
Moving to Tag Editor, it has a huge array of fields to edit tag information, you also have various extended tag information fields to add information in detail, beneath that, it lets you add cover art and lyrics of the track.
Under Tag Processor tab, you can search for tag information from different data sources which includes; Amazon, Freedb, Discogs, etc. Just select a file, enter search keywords, select service, and click Search to look for the tag information. In search results, choose a desired result and click Save from lower part of the window to add/replace tag information.
From List Maker, you can create music playlist in different formats. It can export the list in CSV, CSV (Excel), HTML, M3U, TXT, etc. Just select the format, encoding type and click Export button present at right-bottom of the window.
Overall, it is one advanced music tagger, organizer, and renamer with almost every feature and option. It is recommended for advanced users only. If you are new, it will take some time to get used with this application since the options and functionalities are enormous. It runs on all versions of Windows, testing was done on Windows 7 32-bit system.
