How to make a composter in Minecraft
Minecraft has lots of different items, some common, some less so, and some extremely rare. The rare items are things users will squirrel away until they really, really need them. As for the more common items, you can keep them in chests in case you need them but you can also make use of a composter.
Composter in Minecraft
Minecraft has a composter; you can use it to recycle certain items into bone meal. Bone meal is great for farming so regardless of how much you have, more is always good. A composter has to be crafted, and once crafted, it has to be filled up to get bone meal.
Make Composter in Minecraft
To make a Composter in Minecraft, you need;
- A crafting table
- Seven wood slabs
Make wood slabs
To make wood slabs, you need to get wood. It’s easy to obtain: you can punch a tree to obtain the wood and then convert it into slabs.
- Open the crafting table.
- Place a block of wood.
- Collect 4 wood planks.
- Place three wood planks in a row (1×3).
- Collect 6 wood slabs.
- Repeat a second time so you have 7 slabs.
Make composter in Minecraft
Now that you have wood slabs, you can make the composter.
- Open the crafting table.
- Place the slabs in a U shape i.e., place a slab in the first and last cell of the first row.
- Place a slab in the first and last cell of the second row.
- Place a slab in each cell of the last row.
- Collect the composter.
Use composter in Minecraft
If you’ve never used a composter before in Minecraft, it’s best to try it out with seeds. They’re very easy to get and you’ll need quite a few of them to fill the composter.
- Place the composter on the ground.
- Select seeds from your inventory so that you’re holding them.
- Click on the composter with the place/use action.
- You will see the shine animation.
- Repeat and you will soon see the composter begin to fill up.
- Repeat until it is filled and collect bone meal when it drops.
Conclusion
A composter is really easy to make. The resources for it are common enough there’s no reason to not have one. When you break a composter down, you get nothing i.e., the slabs aren’t returned either but again, slabs are easy to get. You should familiarize yourself with what you can and cannot put in a composter though since not everything can be recycled.
