How to Turn on Share Across Devices on Windows 10 or 11
Share Across Devices is an application introduced by Microsoft for Windows 10 platforms, including computers, tablets, and even smartphones that received Windows 10 Anniversary Update. This universal app facilitates seamless file and link sharing between multiple Windows 10 devices. However, all the involved devices should be using the same Microsoft account for sharing. For Windows 11, it is available out of the box.
You can also use the Share Across Devices app on Xbox Oneor HoloLens. This app allows you to share any text or link from an app with any other Windows device you own. With it, users can start working on a project on their office laptop and finish the work after returning home using a personal computer or tablet.
You don’t need this app to be installed on all the target devices. All you have to do is share the link from the source device. If the target device is on and awake, its default browser will get launched immediately and open the shared link. In case you share a YouTube link, the target device will open that link on the YouTube app.
Additionally, this app supports TubeCast and MyTube. If you want to share some texts, the Share Across Devices should be enabled on the target device. Only then, the target device will receive the text and copy it to the clipboard.
The app just received its version 2.0, which supports File Transfer. The file transfer takes place through local wireless or wired connections and not over cross-company networks or cellular networks. Share Across Devices is also available on Windows 11 devices.
