Turning Off Pop-up Blocker on Edge

The process for turning off Pop-up Blocker is pretty much the same on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chromebook; therefore, you can follow the steps below to disable the feature on any of the aforementioned operating systems:

  • Open Edge browser
  • In the top-right corner of Edge home screen, click on the horizontal three-dots
  • From the list of options that pop up next, navigate to and click Settings
  • On the Settings page, navigate to the left pane and select Cookies and Site Permissions
  • Next, navigate to the right pane and click Pop-Ups and Redirects under the All Permissions section
  • Finally, you’ll be taken to the Pop-ups and Redirects page. Navigate to Block (Recommended) and use the toggle bar next to it to disable the feature on your Edge browser.

After following the above steps, Pop-ups Blocker will be disabled on your browser. But instead of disabling the feature entirely, there’s a better way to allow specific websites to use pop-ups while keeping the pop-up blocker for other websites. If you’d fair better with this, skip to the next method below.

How to Disable Pop-up Blocker for Specific Websites

If you’d like to keep Pop-up Blocker (which makes sense) and only disable it for specific websites, there’s a way to go about it right in Edge settings. Follow the steps below:

  • Open Edge browser
  • In the top-right corner of Edge home screen, click on the horizontal three-dots menu
  • From the list of options that pop up next, navigate to and click Settings
  • On the Settings page, navigate to the left panel and select Cookies and Site Permissions
  • Next, navigate to the right pane and select Pop-Ups and Redirects under the All Permissions section
  • Under the Block (Recommended) toggle, you’ll find two additional options (Block & Allow) with an Add button in front of them. Use the Add button to enter specific websites you want pop-ups disabled for
  • An Add a Site prompt will pop up; use the text box to enter the address of the website you don’t want to bring pop-ups

Once done, the Pop-up Blocker will be disabled for only the websites you’ve entered under the Block bar.

Final Notes

There you have it! Disabling Pop-up Blocker is just a piece of cake, as you can see from the steps demonstrated above. While åthere are third-party apps that can help you block or enable them across all your browsers, the options on Edge are the best if Edge is your primary browser.
