Of course, there are a few things you must do to be eligible for axe ownership. And the good thing is only one player will have to do them if more than one person is playing the game on the same Switch. There’s only one progress file for both parties.
So, with that out of the way, follow the steps below on how to craft an axe in Animal Crossing: New Horizons:
- You’ll need to donate some fish or bugs to Tom Nook to get the axe recipe. So, visit the Residents Services building on your island and talk to him
- Once you’ve had a conversation with him, he will hand over a Flimsy Net and Flimsy Fishing Net
- Use the net to capture bugs on your island and use the rod to catch some fish in the water.
- When you’ve got some fish or bugs (it doesn’t matter how many or which), return to the Residents Services building at the Main Square and talk to Tom Nook
- Donate the fish or bugs you’ve acquired to him, and you’ll get the recipe for a Flimsy Axe in return, which are five tree branches and two stones
- You can get these items by shaking trees and hitting rocks on your island with a shovel. You can also pick them from the ground on your island if you don’t have the required tools to source them yourself
- Once you’ve gotten the required items to make a Flimsy Axe, go to the Workbench
- Other than the Workbench introduced to you by Tom Nook on your first day on the island, you can also use the Workbench in the Community Center or in villagers’ homes when they are making something
