How to leave a Discord server

Discord servers are both private and public. If you want to join a private Discord server, you will have to be invited to it. If you want to join a public Discord server, you will have find the link for it. Once you have the invite, or the link, you can click it and you’ll be added to the server.

Leave a Discord server

Joining a Discord server, especially if it’s a private one, is kind of tricky. Leaving a Discord server, regardless if it’s a public or private one is far simpler. You don’t need permissions and you do not need to look for a specific link to leave the server. You only need to know what option to click.

Leave a Discord server – Mobile/iOS/Android

To leave a Discord server from the mobile app, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Discord app on your phone.
  2.  Tap the hamburger icon at the top left.
  3. From the navigation drawer, select the server that you want to leave.
  4.  Tap the more options (three dots) button at the top right.
  5. Scroll through the menu and tap the Leave server option.

If you leave a public server, rejoining it will be easy however, if you leave a private server you cannot rejoin it again unless you’re invited. A private server does not let people in simply because they were once allowed in before.

Delete a Discord server

If you’re looking to delete a Discord server, you should know that you can only delete your own server. You cannot delete a server that someone else has created. You can delete a server if you have admin rights on it.

If you’d like to hide certain servers from the left bar, you can add them all to a folder. There is, unfortunately, no option to hide a server. To create a folder, drag & drop one server on to another.

Conclusion

Discord servers are often open and public. Major gaming titles often have a Discord server where players interact with each other, and with the development company. Some game development companies make major announcements and release special passes and beta invites on their Discord server making them worth being a part of if you’re a fan of the game.
