How To Hide Apps With A Keyboard Shortcut On Windows 10

It’s always easy to slack off while at work. You open one YouTube video, and soon you’ve gone down a rabbit hole of interesting videos that do not seem to come to an end. That said, if you have a little free time at work, there’s nothing wrong with watching a YouTube video or ten. Whatever you choose to do, you will obviously need a quick way to hide it. PrivacyHide is a free little utility that allows you to hide apps with a keyboard shortcut. You need to pre-program which apps it should hide but once you do, it’s a seamless process.

Hide Apps With A Keyboard Shortcut

Download PrivacyHide and install it. Run the app. On the ‘Applications to be Hidden’ tab, enter a name for the app you want to hide. Click the Browse button and select the EXE of the app. Click Add, and the app will be added to the list. Repeat this for all the apps that you want to hide.

Next, go to the Hotkey tab and set up the hotkey you want to use to hide and unhide apps. The default shortcut is Alt+1 but you can change it to anything else you want. You can use other modifier keys including the Win key, and any other letter or number keys. Once you’re done, click Ok. The app will run minimized in the system tray.

To hide apps, simply execute the shortcut that you’ve set up. This will hide all the apps that you configured. The hide feature doesn’t just minimize the apps. It also hides their taskbar icons that indicate the apps are running. To get them back, simply execute the shortcut again.

If you want, you can hide the app’s system tray icon by opening the app and going to the Options tab. This is also where you can set the app to run on startup. Finally, there’s another option that, if you enable it, will hide every single app that you have running on your system. This makes it so that you don’t have to manually add every single app to the list.

There is no whitelisting feature that allows you to exclude one or two apps from the all apps option that you can enable so if you have a lot of apps that you want to include, and only a few that you want to leave out, it will take a little time to set everything up.
