Extract RAR And Zip Files In Batch With “The Extractor”
The Extractor is an application for batch extraction of ZIP and RAR archives. The batch processing mechanism offered by this application is quite convenient, as you can drag and drop a number of files to quickly extract their contents in batch. While there are other applications like UnRarIT, which provide similar functionality, The Extractor provides much quicker extraction than UnRarIT. During testing, we found the extraction time for a 453MB file to be 11 seconds (approximately) by WinRAR and The Extractor, whereas the same file was extracted by UnRarIT in 15 seconds (approximately). This goes on to show that this program can be used as a viable free alternative to WinRAR for extracting RAR and ZIP files in batch.
Begin by simply dragging and dropping files to the application, and click Go to start the extraction process. All files will be extracted in the source directory by default. In case a problem occurs during the extraction process, you can pause or kill the process from options given at the bottom of The Extractor interface.
Once the extraction process is complete, you can add folder/files, open input folder, reset (recompress) the file(s) and delete files via right-click context menu options.
To configure advanced options, head over to Preferences. Here, you can enable prompt for password protected files, close application after a process is complete, integrate The Extractor to shell and use icons in context menu.
The Extractor works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
