How To Export Notes From Sticky Notes On Windows 10
The Sticky Notes app has been a part of Windows since before Windows 7. It has remained unchanged for the most part. The October 2018 Windows 10 update which has now been put on hold, has finally introduced some new features to it. The app now has extensive support for keyboard shortcuts and you can export notes from the Sticky app provided you’re using it with your Microsoft Account.
Export Notes From Sticky Notes
Open the Sticky Notes app. If you haven’t already signed into the app, click the more options button at the top right of a note and from the menu, select All Notes. In the panel that opens, click the cog wheel button and click the Sign In option.
Once you sign in, you will see an Export Notes option on this very same Settings panel. Click it. The notes are automatically saved to your Outlook account. You don’t need to have the Outlook app installed on your desktop. Visit Outlook.com and sign in with the same account you used for Sticky Notes.
At the top right, click the cog wheel button and from the menu that opens, click View all Outlook settings.
In the window that opens, go to the General tab, and select Privacy and data. Here you will see an Export mailbox button. Click it. The export can take up to four days so this isn’t exactly immediate. You will need to wait a while before you can get your notes.
It was far easier to export notes from the Sticky Notes app in Windows 7. They could be copied as a file with the SNT extension and the Sticky Notes app in Windows 10 can read them so that it’s easy to import them.
With exporting notes so restrictive, and the app still fairly basic, users who prefer apps like Evernote aren’t going to use Sticky Notes as more than just a scratch pad. The app also should be able to export notes to the Outlook app is you have it installed on your desktop or at least provide the option to do so, but it doesn’t. It prolongs the entire process of exporting notes. It’s not even making use of OneDrive which it takes every opportunity to push to users.
The Sticky Notes app is going to released for both iOS and Android, soon. Perhaps then, users will be able to find a better, quicker way to export notes.
