Create LEGO Bricks On Your Computer With LEGO Digital Designer [Fun App]
Remember the cute LEGO brick from your childhood? How about creating a LEGO model on your computer? LEGO Digital Designer is a fun app, which works pretty much like real LEGO blocks and allows you to make your very own Lego model on a Windows or Mac system. You can either create a model from scratch or modify the available designs. The models appear in 3D and the screen can be rotated for changing the view of your model. All models can be saved in LXF format and re-edited later on.
To get started, select a design mode. You can either create your own model from scratch by using the Design by Me or Free build option, or use existing models from LEGO Mind Storm and LEGO Universe options.
Designing a model is pretty straight forward, just a location on the available area and add a brick from the left hand menu. You can place multiple bricks over each other to make the design. The simple options on the top toolbar allow you to hide, delete and conveniently place bricks on your model items.
You can remove a brick by either the toolbar options from the top menu or by hitting Esc, Ctrl+Z or Delete. The model can be rotated by using the four arrow keys on each side, which allow viewing the model from literally any angle.
With LEGO Digital Designer, you can create anything from simple car models to the most complex model imaginable. In fact, creating a good model mainly depends upon your ability rather than any imposed limitations. You can save a model from the File menu in LXF format and later import it for making changes. LEGO Digital Designer is a free application, but interestingly, you can buy your created models from the Buy button. A selected model is priced immediately in the currency of your selected country. You are then delivered a box containing the bricks for your very own model.
LEGO Digital Designer is an official app from LEGO which works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Mac OS X.
