Change Mp3 Audio Bitrate To Reduce Size
If you are looking to reduce the size of a large mp3 file, lets say an audio podcast, Mp3 Bitrate Changer will come useful. It does not magically reduce the file size, rather it compresses to a user-defined bitrate. Let me warn you that lower bitrate would mean small decrease in audio quality, so unless it is not necessary, you should not change the bitrate.
What makes it actually useful is the live estimation of output size and ability to preview it before converting. It supports all Mp3 bitrates specified in MPEG-1 Layer 3 Standard: 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 80, 96, 112, 128, 160, 192, 224, 256 and 320 kbit/s.
This nifty little app can only convert and reduce the bitrate of Mp3 audio file. The conversation is quite fast, the only slight annoyance is the nag screen when closing the application.
Editor’s Notes: We are reviewing this application because it our job to give as many options to the users as possible. Our personal favorite application to compress mp3 file is Mp3 Quality Modifier, which is highly recommended.
What the world really needs is something like this that runs server side, as a cloud app, and uses a URL as the input file. Some of us are under a bandwidth cap…
Also, when it creates the new files, it loses the album, title, track number etc tags. Super useless!!!
Super useless. It should operate on a *folder* at a time, not single files.
Changing mp3 file from 44K to 8K on Windows 7 64bit Pro will process the file about 2/3 of the progress bar and stops running without any indication of what’s causing the problem.
This is going to be very useful. Is this app for free?
