How to install the Zoom meeting app

Zoom is a popular online meeting tool. It has a web interface that offers quite a few features and allows users to join a Zoom meeting without creating an account. As with most apps, the Zoom desktop app(s) offer more features (screen/meeting recording) and tend to work better.

Install Zoom meeting app

The Zoom app is free to install on the desktop and on supported mobile devices. It is available for Windows 10, macOS, iOS, and Android.

Zoom meeting app – Windows 10

The Zoom app for Windows 10 is available on the official Zoom website.

1. Visit the Zoom download page in your browser.
2. Click Download under Zoom client for meetings.
3. Save and run the EXE file.
4. Grant it admin permission.
5. Zoom will be installed.

Zoom meeting app – macOS

The Zoom app for macOS is available on the official Zoom website.

1. Visit the Zoom download page in your browser on macOS.
2. Click the ‘Click here’ link under the Zoom Client for meetings section.
3. Download and run the file.
4. Zoom will be installed.

Zoom meeting app – iOS

The Zoom app for iOS is available in the App Store by the name Zoom Coud Meetings by Meet Happy.

1. Visit this link on your iPhone.
2. Tap Get.
3. Authenticate with Face ID or your Apple ID password.
4. Zoom for iOS will be installed.

Zoom meeting app – Android

The Zoom app for Android is available in the Google Play Store by the name Zoom Cloud Meetings by Meet Happy.

1. Visit this link on your Android phone. 
2. Tap the Install  button.
3. Zoom for Android will be installed.

Zoom add-ons/extensions

Zoom can be used in the browser and to do that, it will install an extension or add-on. The add-on is installed when you try to join a meeting. If it doesn’t install, you can visit the Zoom downloads page and manually install it.

In addition to the add-on/extension, it also has plugins for Outlook and IBM notes. Finally, there is a special client you can install on the iPad if you want to share your screen from it.

Conclusion

THe Zoom desktop apps are needed if you plan on recording a meeting or using some of its other features. The mobile apps are necessary if you want to join a meeting since the Zoom web app doesn’t support mobile browsers. In a pinch, you can use the web app but if you use Zoom often, installing the apps on you desktop and phone is a good idea.
