How to use a Microsoft Teams template
A single Microsoft Teams license allows a user to create as many teams as they need. An organization doesn’t need to create a single team for everyone. Instead, a separate team can be created for groups or departments. This allows them to work independently and make better use of its features.
When creating a team, users can be added from a Microsoft 365 group or from the Active Directory. Once the team has been created, members of the team can be assigned different roles.
Use a Microsoft Teams template
Creating a Microsoft Teams team is easy; you enter a name, a brief description, and select how you want to add users. Unless you’re adding users individually, the entire process takes only a few minutes to complete.
The tedious and time-consuming part of creating a team is assigning roles and creating the channels and adding apps that users will need to work. To make this easier, Microsoft Teams comes loaded with templates that you can use to create a team. If a template doesn’t meet your needs, you can create a custom template and create all teams based on it.

- Open Microsoft Teams.
- Go to the Teams tab.
- Click Join or create a team at the bottom.
- Click Create team.
- Click Select from template.
- Select a template and click Start.
- Select if the team will be public or private.
- Give the team a name and a description, and click Create.
Conclusion
Microsoft Teams templates make it easier to add channels and apps. Instead of adding a channel one-by-one, and then selecting and adding apps, a template that has the apps already added and channels all set up can be used. You can modify a template to suit your needs. If you have to create a lot of teams, a template is the way to go.
