Are you curious about how powerful your Linux Mint PC is? Want to benchmark it but unsure how to do it? With Hardinfo, benchmarking Linux Mint is incredibly easy. Here’s how to do it on your system.

Installing Hardinfo on Linux Mint

If you’re using Linux Mint and want to benchmark your machine, you’ll need to install the Hardinfo tool. It’s an easy-to-use hardware info/benchmarking tool that fits right into the Linux Mint “just works” philosophy.

The Hardinfo application is readily available to all Linux Mint users; however, in this guide, we’ll focus on Mint 21. You’ll need to follow the instructions below to install the Hardinfo application on your Linux Mint PC.

How to install Hardinfo with the GUI

If you want to install the Hardinfo app on Linux Mint with the GUI, start by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard to open up the search menu. After pressing this button, type in “Software Manager” and press the enter key.

Once you open the Linux Mint “Software Manager” app, locate the search box. Then, type in “Hardinfo” in the search box. Finally, look through the search results for “Hardinfo.”

When you’ve located “Hardinfo” in the search results, select it with the mouse. After you choose “Hardinfo” with the mouse, you’ll be brought to the app’s page in the Linux Mint Software Manager.

Locate the green “Install” button, and select it with the mouse. When you select this button, a pop-up window will appear. The window says, “To install or remove software, you need to authenticate.” Enter your Linux Mint password, and select the “Authenticate” button.

Once you’ve installed Hardinfo using the Linux Mint Software Manager, you can click on the green “Launch” button to start it up.

How to install Hardinfo with the terminal

If you are comfortable using the terminal in Linux Mint, you can use it to install Hardinfo. To start, launch a terminal window on the Linux Mint desktop. You can do this by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T or searching for “Terminal” in the app menu.

Once the terminal window is open, type in sudo apt install below to install the “hardinfo” package on Linux Mint.

sudo apt install hardinfo

When you enter the command above, Linux Mint will ask you for a password. Using the keyboard, enter your Linux Mint user account password. Then, press the enter key to continue.

After entering your Linux Mint password, Linux Mint will ask you to confirm that you wish to install the “hardinfo” package. Press the Y key on the keyboard to confirm you do. Upon pressing the Y key, Linux Mint will install the Hardinfo app.
