Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is a third-person tactical shooter developed and published by Ubisoft. This guide will show you how to download, install and play the game on Linux.

Getting Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands working on Linux

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is a Windows game and not native to Linux. However, it will run on Linux thanks to new Easy Anti-Cheat support. However, you’ll need to install Steam to get it working.

To set up Steam on Linux, you must open up a terminal window on the desktop. Press Ctrl + Alt + T on the key on the keyboard. Alternatively, launch a terminal window on the desktop by searching for “Terminal” on the desktop.

With the terminal window open and ready to use, follow the installation instructions below to install the Steam app on your Linux computer.

Debian

On Debian, you must download the Steam DEB package to your computer before installing it. To download the Steam DEB package, run the following wget command below.

wget https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steam.deb

After downloading the latest Steam DEB package to your Debian PC, you can install it using the dpkg command below.

On Arch Linux, you can install Steam. However, you’ll first need to enable the “multilib” software repository. Open up the /etc/pacman.conf file in a text editor (as root), find “#multilib,” and remove the # symbol. Also, remove the # symbol from the line directly below.

After editing, save your edits and run the following pacman -Syy command.

sudo pacman -Syy

Finally, install the official Steam app using pacman -S.

sudo pacman -S steam

Fedora/OpenSUSE

On both Fedora Linux and OpenSUSE, Steam is installable through software repositories included with the operating system. However, consider following the Flatpak instructions as that app version tends to work better on these OSes.

Flatpak

To install Steam as a Flatpak on Linux, start by enabling the Flatpak runtime on your system. Then, after setting up the runtime, enter the two commands below to set up Steam.

flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
