Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is an action RPG developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft. Here’s how you can play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on your Linux PC.

Getting Assassin’s Creed Odyssey working on Linux

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is available for Windows only. However, with Proton and the  Steam client, you’ll be able to enjoy it on Linux. You’ll need to install the Steam client for Linux to play the game.

To install the Steam app on your Linux PC, open a terminal window. You can open a terminal window by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T on the keyboard. You can also open up one by searching for it in the app menu.

Once the terminal window is open and ready to use, Steam is ready to install. Follow the step-by-step instructions below that corresponds with the Linux OS you use on your PC.

To get Steam working on Ubuntu, use the following apt install command.

sudo apt install steam

Debian

To install the Steam app on Debian, start by downloading the latest Steam DEB package to your computer. Then, run the wget command to download.

wget https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steam.deb

After downloading the DEB package to your computer, run the following dpkg command to install the software on your Debian system.

Finally, correct all Steam dependencies by running the apt-get install -f command.

Save your edits. Then, run the pacman -Syy command below.

Fedora/OpenSUSE

If you use Fedora or OpenSUSE, you’ll be able to install Steam using the software repos included out of the box. However, we suggest installing the Flatpak release instead, as it tends to work better on these OSes.

Flatpak

Before you install Steam as a Flatpak, you must enable the Flatpak runtime. After enabling it, you can install the latest release of Steam on your computer using the two commands below.

flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
flatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam
