Microsoft’s Game-Changing ‘AI-ready’ PCs: A Glimpse into Tomorrow’s Technology
The AI industry is moving forward rapidly, and in the last couple of years, Microsoft has become one of the pioneers of AI technologies.
Available from June 18th this year, these new devices will start at $999. This release represents the first series of AI-Ready PCs from Microsoft, with the debut of Copilot+ PCs marking a new era for the Windows platform.
Immerse Yourself in the Exciting World of Copilot+
What is Copilot? The original Microsoft Copilot was first launched as Bing Chat on February 7, 2023. A few months later, Microsoft rebranded the AI assistant as Microsoft Copilot. Copilot is based on OpenAI’s ChatGPT and takes advantage of the foundations of this popular language model. It combines it with other cutting-edge technologies and user data to be an AI assistant instead of just a chatbot. Now, Copilot is a part of many Windows applications, and users can take advantage of it for different purposes, such as creating AI images with Microsoft Designer.
You may ask, what is Microsoft Copilot Pro? Earlier this year, Microsoft Copilot Pro was announced as a subscription service that allows users to create custom Copilot chatbots, create higher-quality images, and have quicker access to the new AI models. It costs $20 a month.
Copilot+ PCs are designed specifically to power the AI capabilities. These PCs are powered by a brand-new Neural Processing Unit (NPU) running at 40 trillion operations per second. “They’re 58 percent faster than the most advanced MacBook Air with the M3 processor,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Executive Vice President of Microsoft. Using these computers, users can achieve up to 20x power for AI tasks.
“We are introducing new state-of-the-art AI models running locally and continuously to reason over your data from text to the pixels,” Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, said in a presentation. He added: “The result is the fastest, most AI-ready Windows PC ever built.”
AI is the main focus of these PCs. Still, Microsoft has tried to produce flexible and light Microsoft Surface PCs with all-day battery life, exceptional OLED displays, and detachable keyboards. Also, many known brands and manufacturers, including ASUS, Lenovo, Acer, HP, Dell, and Samsung, have partnered with Microsoft to make Copilot+ PCs.
Some exciting new devices will be available starting June 18 this year, with prices beginning at $999. This is just the first wave of Al-Ready PCs from Microsoft, and the company is seeing the introduction of Copilot+ PCs as a new chapter for the Windows platform.
Copilot+ PCs aim to go above and beyond every version of Copilot.
Here are some of the most intriguing features of Copilot+:
Recall the Past with Copilot+
Recall is the flagship feature of Copilot+ PCs. The idea of Recall is that users can go back to what they have seen on their computer and remind themselves of something. So, to access certain info users have seen before, instead of opening the documents or apps, they can Recall and basically scroll across time to find the information in a few seconds.
There are privacy measures in place so users can delete the snapshots at certain times and stop the feature when using certain websites and apps. The extent of how much Recall can go back in time is not clear yet but it is certainly the most promising and exciting feature of Copilot+.
Remove the Language Barrier with Live Captions
With the help of Live Captions, users can translate over 40 languages to English without much delay. Users can instantly enable this feature on all audio on their PC and enjoy live translations in real-time.
Live Captions is even accessible when the PC is offline. So, everything is built-in, and there are no limitations on access. The powerful hardware and AI technologies of Copilot+ PCs can translate every podcast, Zoom call, movie, YouTube video, and more.
Edit and Create Content
With the built-in Al-powered image creator of Copilot+ PCs, creating and editing pictures is easier than ever. With the Restyle Image application on Windows, you can change the art styles of images, remove the background, and create entirely new images.
Cocreator is another app on Copilot+ PCs that allows users to turn their ideas into art with minimal input. With simple sketches and optional descriptions, the app will create what users have in mind.
Moreover, Microsoft is collaborating with the most popular creative app developers to harness the power of these PCs for AI creation. Here are some of the partners that will implement Copilot+ features:
- DaVinci Resolve Studio: Add visual effects to objects.
- Cephable: Advanced input controls such as facial movements.
- Adobe: Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator AI features, and more.
- Djay Pro: Edit and remix music tracks.
- CapCut: Remove the background from the videos.
