Unofficial CyanogenMod 7.1 Makes It To Atrix 4G [Download Available]
If you are an owner of Motorola Atrix 4G and were waiting for some CyanogenMod bacon, then it’s time to cheer! Although there is no word from CyanogenMod Team regarding an official CM build for Atrix, but there are some industrious hackers out there doing the deal. Turl, along with some other able Android modders and developers, has managed to compile the code available at CM git to make it a recovery flashable ROM for Atrix 4G. Although this ROM is a raw pre-beta release, but with so much working already, it’s bound to get stable in coming days.
There is plenty of stuff that works in this CM 7.1 Android 2.3 Gingerbread build for Atrix 4G such as:
- 2G/3G/H+
- Calls and SMS
- WiFi
- Audio
- USB
- GPS
- Display
- Touchscreen
- Battery Stats
- Proximity Sensor
- Screen orientation
- Internal Storage and External SD Card
- Multimedia Playback (videos, music)
Camera, Bluetooth Connectivity and everything that isn’t listed in what-works-list above is more or less broken. The ROM isn’t a daily driver in this state but in case you have ample flashing experience at hand or just want to give this one a drive, then you are welcome to try it and report what needs fixing that isn’t listed.
And for those novices like me out there, please stay away from this for now as things can turn up really bad and have the potential to brick your device forever. You can download unofficial CyanogenMod 7.1 Android Gingerbread ROM for Atrix 4G (https://code.google.com/p/atrix-dev-team/downloads/detail?name=Ba2tF.zip) from here and then flash it through custom recovery following a complete Wipe and backup. The compatible Google Apps are (https://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip) available here if you need them. And in case you need more info or want to report bugs and need Live developer support, then head to the official ModMyMobile forum thread posted here.
