Overclock SE Xperia Arc To 1.86Ghz With Custom Kernel [How To]
The Xperia Arc doesn’t seem to be getting much far in terms of development. Custom ROM’s and kernel are a rarity but there might still be hope thanks to XDA-Developers forum member if2, who has just released an OC kernel for the Xperia Arc, taking it up to 1.86Ghz. This kernel is strictly meant for the 3.0.1.A.0.145, 146 or 147 firmware and should not be tried on a firmware other then the three listed. Why overclock? Because we get a higher benchmark score and well, we said it before, we say it again; because we can!
According to the developer, “I modified acpuclock-7×30.c for overclock and compiled the stock kernel in 3.0.1.A.0.145_146_148”. The kernel is available in 3 variants:
- Boot at 1.86Ghz with 1.86Ghz maximum OC. (boot.zip)
- Boot at 1Ghz with 1.86Ghz maximum OC. (boot_new.zip)
- Boot at 1Ghz with 1.76Ghz maximum OC. (boot_lower_v2.zip)
The developer has made the source code that he modified, available for download to those interested in taking a look at it. (acpuclock-7×30.zip) Pictures, or rather proof of it can be seen in a few screenshots by the developer along with some benchmarks:
So i f you want to try this kernel on your Xperia Arc, cross your fingers and let us show you how.

Instructions:
- To begin, download the kernel from the links above and extract it.
- Copy the .img file extracted, to android-sdk-windows\tools.
- Once done, boot your phone into fastboot mode and connect it to the PC via USB connector.
- Now navigate to android-sdk-windows\tools and while pressing shift, press the Right mouse button and select open command window here. (Or you can simply open command prompt or terminal and navigate to the given location manually if you know how to.)
- Enter the following command in command prompt and hit enter:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Once the files is flashed, you should get a prompt saying that everything is ok. At this point, simply unplug your device and you’re good to go!

This kernel will work on my xperia arc smoothly? Or need the exact kernel for myphone? thanks
Many Thanks!
Running on 1.76Ghzzz without any issues.
Well prior to rooting, you WILL have to unlock the bootloader anyways, and installing this kernel, WILL require your device to be rooted.
Hope this helped! =]
Does this method unlock the bootloader?????
