Install Bionix-v 1.2 Custom Android 2.2 FroYo ROM on Samsung Vibrant
Bionix-v is a custom ROM based on Android 2.2 FroYo for the Samsung Vibrant. It is packed with features while being lean, fast and stable. It is brought to you by the same people who made the popular Nero v5 ROM, and just like Nero, it also includes Voodoo lagfix. If you are looking for a fresh Android ROM for your Vibrant, read on for further details. It is worth noting that this is the first custom Android 2.2 ROM for the Vibrant.
Bionix-v 1.2 has just been released by Team Whiskey and it is the latest version of the popular fast, lean and feature-rich custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S series devices. The speed of this ROM is startling fast – there is no lag and the instant response to the touches and swipes of the user is amazing. Seeing is believing so here’s a fan-made video of the ROM in action for you guys to see for yourself.
This update brings not only several improvements and bug fixes but also a few new features such as a new custom boot animation, front facing camera support (provided you install the camera itself in your device and the camera.apk from Galaxy S i9000) and pre-installed apps updated to the latest versions available at the time of release.
Certain addons including Wi-Fi calling, MMS app from AOSP, a better working version of Swype, and ThinkDroid are also provided as separate downloads and can be found at the XDA-Developers forum thread at the link given in the end of this post. Also provided there are a couple of optional kernel downloads, one of them being a modified kernel and the other being the stock one to revert things back.
Disclaimer: Please follow this guide at your own risk. AddictiveTips will not be liable if your device gets damaged or bricked during the process.
If you’ve had enough details and want to get straight to installing it, just download it from the link given below, transfer it to your phone, make a backup and flash it from recovery. Make sure to flash the version applicable to you – if coming from a previous version of Bionix, flash the upgrade version and if coming from any other ROM, go for the clean install version. Installing the upgrade version will keep your current data and apps, but will not work if you are coming from any other ROM. The clean install version will wipe everything before installing, though to be safe, you should wipe data as well as cache and Dalvik cache before installing it if coming from any other ROM.
Once you are done installing this ROM, you might also want to try out installing the stunning Androdena theme on this ROM. That theme has been built specifically for this ROM and you can learn more by checking out our coverage of it.
