Install Android 3.0 Honeycomb Custom ROM On HTC EVO 4G

Honeycomb on HTC EVO 4GSpyderComb is the first Android 3.0 Honeycomb custom ROM for the HTC EVO 4G that brings Google’s tablet-exclusive version of Android to the smartphone. It is presently in alpha stage with several features not working but still it is significant progress. For more information and to get Honeycomb up and running on your EVO 4G, continue reading after the jump.

It was only yesterday that we wrote about Android 3.0 Honeycomb SDK ports for HTC Desire HD, HTC EVO 4G and HTC Droid Incredible, and XDA-Developers forum member spyderdreams has already used the EVO 4G version as the source for cooking up the first custom Honeycomb ROM for the EVO 4G.

The developer and his time have got several of the features to work in this one that were missing from the SDK dump. Here is a list of what works:

  • Bottom buttons
  • Widgets
  • Contacts
  • Menus
  • Bookmarks
  • Wi-Fi (with a fix)
  • App Drawer (needs resizing for the smaller screen; works otherwise)

Following are the features not functional at the moment but are being worked upon.

  • SD card
  • Phone Radios
  • Audio
  • Music Player
  • Camera
  • 4G

If you want to take this ROM for a test drive on your phone, here are the flashing instructions.
