Install Android 2.3 Gingerbread UI ROM On Motorola Defy

Gingerbread Motorola Defy Motorola Defy Gingerbread

Android 2.3 Gingerbread has been out for a while now but most devices have yet to receive official updates. The developer community has ported the latest Android release to several devices though some are still lacking in that regard as well, including Motorola Defy. Though if you own one, you can still enjoy the user interface of Gingerbread on your phone by installing the BlueGinger 2.3 Gingerbread UI ROM.

BlueGinger 2.3 has been released by XDA-Developers forum member tenfar and is based on Android 2.1 Éclair. It is themed with a custom Android 2.3 Gingerbread interface to give you an experience close to using Gingerbread itself for those who want a Gingerbread experience ASAP to enjoy.

The ROM includes JIT, is deodexed and does not contain the infamous MOTOBLUR interface, although some nice features from it such as battery management are still present. So far, the user response seems to be quite good. The ROM is stable and has all the features working.

You can download the ROM from the link given below and flash it to your device via recovery. Make sure to take a nandroid backup first and wipe all data and cache prior to flashing the ROM. Detailed installation can be found at our guide on how to flash a ROM to an Android device from recovery.
