redsnow4.1jbIn case you have updated your iPhone 3G to iOS 4.0.2 then you are certainly in luck! With JailbreakMe process going void for every device updated to iOS 4.0.2, you can still jailbreak iPhone 3G on iOS 4.0.2 with Redsn0w.

Here is the step by step guide on jailbreaking iPhone 3G on iOS 4.0.2 using Redns0w Version 0.9.5b5-5.

  1. The first step is to download Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 and save it on your desktop [or wherever your prefer].
  2. Start Redns0w.
  3. Once Redsn0w starts, click browse and and select the original iOS 4 Firmware IPSW file.
  4. Now wait for Redsn0w to process the firmware file and select next.
  5. On this screen, check mark “Install Cydia” and press next.
  6. Now power off your iPhone 3G and connect it with your computer. Please only press next once you are 100 % sure that your phone is properly powered off and plugged to the computer.
  7. Now follow the onscreen instruction to complete your jailbreak. This process will take some time so do not interrupt installation or disconnect your device.

  2. im wondering.. the link you gave is 4.0.2.. when we browse, do we look for 4.0.2 or just 4.0? I still dont get it. Im downloading the 4.0.2 file you linked. my 3G is already in 4.0.2.

have you tried this yourself? just so you know, iOS 4.0.2 does not update the baseband for iPhone 3G (this guide is about the 3G, right?), hence you can safely upgrade to 4.0.2, jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5, and then unlock with ultrasn0w…

    • Well this guide was written pretty early and at that time we just updated and jailbroke our testing unit without going into baseband details. [U can check time of publishing] . It is now clear that baseband is not updated and we will soon post a step by step guide on unlocking iPhone 3G after jailbreaking it on. iOS 4.0.2. Stay tuned 🙂
