Download Official Gingerbread Update For HTC Inspire 4G [Manual And OTA Method]
Finally there is some great news for HTC Inspire 4G owners as the official Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread is rolling out now OTA. The new update is only available for AT & T Inspire 4G users and comes with lots of improvements. Here is a list of updates that come integrated with this official Gingerbread rollout for Inspire 4G:
This system update includes:
- Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread
- New HTC Sense™ features
- Updated Application Tray features
- Updated FriendStream™ features
- Added Quick Settings in the Notifications window
- Improved Power Management function
- Improved media experience
- Various minor bug fixes
As the update is over the air, so it may take some time before you get the notification on your phone. To check manually if the update is available, go to Settings > AT & T Software Update > HTC Wi-Fi Software Update and tap on Check Now. 
And if you can’t really wait for the OTA to get to you, then follow the manual method as below:
- The first step is to download and save the HTC Inspire 4G Gingerbread Update ROM file on your PC.
- Once done, connect your device to the computer and select HTC Sync as connection method.
- After you are connected to HTC Sync, double click to launch the ROM file you earlier downloaded in step 1.
- Now closely follow all the onscreen instructions to update your phone.
- After the update process is complete, your device should automatically reboot.
- Once the device reboots, complete the initial setup process.
And there you go! You are now officially updated to Gingerbread. Please note that we aren’t sure if this method will work for devices with root. It is advisable to wait for a custom ROM that comes integrated with this update to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.

I feel better not being able to down load the up date. The server is always busy. I’ll just keep mine the way it is. I had the problem with it freezing on me so I down loaded an AntiV irus on it. It stopped the freezing on it. The settings is the one that makes ur HTC inspire to freeze. The AntiVirus stops all of that. It saves my battery also. All the Google phones has a market. Make sure u put free AntiVirus so u can choose which one is the best for u.
Is HTC going to send a new update to fix these problems? The glitches were annoying at first but it’s been like 2-3 months now and no new update. Along with the common ones (numbers instead of names, etc) my phone has an odd glitch where pics I’ve taken will disappear from the phone only to re-appear later, very strange.
Constant glitching & freezing plus a lag while you type so the vibrations arent in sync. Txt messages show numbers instead of names. So you have to go out of your way to “open contact” folder to see who’s txting you. Really annoying. I can’t even view mms videos that get sent to me. Laaaaaaaaaaammmme
I am having the same problem and more the ringtones keep resetting to default as well.

I thought I was the only one who had the same glitch– phone number displaying from the text contact but not their name. I have not memorized a phone number since 2000. This is frustrating
Same problems here. Hope they send out a fix quickly as right now I want to throw the phone out the window 🙁
Mine does the same thing everyone here has mentioned.. its VERY annoying i must say. but if you download the app “Handcent” which is a messaging app, it temporarilly fixes the messaging glitches with the phone. I mean, its temporary until HTC can figure out how to fix these bugs. I have many other glitches since this update. Very irritating. Looking forward to another update that will hopefully fix all this mess. Come on HTC you can do better than this 🙂 , everything was fine until this update. Please inform us on something we can do, or a new update!
I just downloaded the upgrade last night, and I like some of the features, except now it has added every single person to my address book that is anywhere in my email, fb, or twitter, it’s very confusing. Also, I can only reply to certain people’s text messages. Please let me know what I can do to fix this??????
My inspire is also freezing up, showing numbers instead of names in text messages. Is there a way we can downgrade back to 2.2 until they get the bugs fixed on 2.3. This is really annoying.

My phone is also having problems with this new software, contacts have been deleted, messages can be sent to some contacts but not others, numbers show up without names, this makes me sad as I’ve been in love with my phone up until now.
why now that the update has been successfully uploaded to my HTC Inspire, does it glitch (lag), freeze up, not identify numbers… etc. Why is that my phone worked great until I uploaded the new 3.3 “GINGERBREAD” update? Can you fix the problem that you suggested to do? As being the developer (that the consumers long since rely on for help with their product), how can you help now with this particular predicament?
