Bring 720p Video Recording And Tap To Focus On HTC HD2 WP7 With SHCameraApp
Have an HTC HD2 running Windows Phone 7? Fed up of having to set the camera resolution to 720p every time to record a video? A simple solution to this problem has surfaced, that should fix this issue for all of us. SHCameraApp is an app developed by XDA-Developers forum member Sergey_H that comes to the rescue for this solution and what’s more – it does more then just save your camera settings. To learn more about the features of this app and how to set 720p video recording as default on your HTC HD2 running WP7, read on after the break.
The camera is one of the apps in our smartphones that many of us use most. As smartphones have progressed, we are seeing cameras with increasingly higher megapixel counts and camera apps that bring a lot of features to them. The HTC HD2 ships with a great quality 5MP sensor that used to work marvelously on Windows Mobile but due to lack of proprietary drivers, its performance on Windows Phone 7 hasn’t really been as great. Also, the stock camera app of Windows Phone 7 lacks many features that would have made better use of this great camera hardware. SHCameraApp aims to address many of these shortcomings to the extent possible via an app.
Following is a list of all the features the application currently offers:
- Resolution is now adjustable from 320×240 up to 2592 x 1944 for the fixed camera.
- Auto-focus can now be enabled or disabled.
- Image preview after taking a snapshot.
- Flash settings (auto, on , off, red eye correction).
- Save settings.
- Video recording at 720p can be set to default.
- On/off for vibration.
- Tap to focus ability.
Yes, you read it right, tap to focus! Sounds like a dream-come-true, right? This application is in a continual update process, and the developer is trying to include the ability to disable the shutter sound and include a video recording indication as well, so you can expect a lot more goodies from it soon, not that the current list of its offerings is any less impressive.
SHCameraApp would certainly give a lot of HD2 users running WP7 a peace of mind. To get on with using this app, download it using the link given below and install the XAP file to your HD2. You can do that very easily using free app TOM XAP Installer. Note that the download linked below is of the current version and since the app is under active development, you should check for the latest version at XDA.
