Is Vikings on Netflix? How to Watch It in Your Country
Vikings is one of those really cool historical drama TV series that will keep you coming back for more every week. Ever since it premiered back in 2013, the show has been an absolute hit. But can you watch Vikings on Netflix? Let’s find out!
Vikings premiered in March 2013 on the History Channel. Like many other shows on History, this one is inspired by the sagas of Ragnar Lothbrok — one of the best known Norse heroes. The show follows on Lothbrok’s adventures, his family and descendants, and while historians may say there are plenty of inaccuracies, remember this isn’t a documentary.
The show started off with Travis Fimmel as Ragnar Lothbrok, Katheryn Winnick as Lagertha, Gustaf Skarsgard as Floki, and Alexander Ludwig as Bjorn Ironside. Of course, the cast list is a lot larger, but we did focus on some of the most prominent characters. You’ll both love and hate these characters along the way.

Vikings Season 4 on Netflix
If you started watching Vikings, stopped along the way, and are just now getting back to watching it with Season 4, you will find the season is available in pretty much all the countries where Netflix is active in.
Vikings Season 5 on Netflix
We can say the same thing about the fifth season of Vikings because you’ll find it available in pretty much all markets where Netflix is available in – Australia and Canada being just a couple of them. Of course, remember that the US has no seasons of Vikings on Netflix whatsoever.
Vikings Season 6 on Netflix
This is where things get a bit tricky because the sixth and last season of Vikings is currently underway. The first episode started airing on December 4th, 2019, and ever since February 5th, the show has been on hiatus. It is currently unknown when the last ten episodes will start airing, as the History Channel has kept mum on this thus far.
Now, as we were just saying, the sixth season isn’t available everywhere. In fact, we’ve checked multiple Netflix libraries and discovered that most of them have only the first five seasons available. Nonetheless, there are some lucky countries out there that already have the first ten episodes of Vikings Seasons 6available to stream – the United Kingdom, Romania, Spain, Greece, Hungary, Brazil, are just some of them.
What if Vikings is not available for me?
So, if you’re unlucky enough to not have Vikings available to watch on Netflix, don’t worry, there are some workarounds! Folks that live in the US and want to watch Vikings with the subscription they already pay for, or those living in Canada and Australia that want to watch Season 6, which isn’t available locally, can do a little bit of online traveling with the help of a VPN.
How to watch Vikings from any country
So, let’s get down to the basics here. You have a Netflix account and want to watch Vikings, but the show isn’t available in your area. If you want to get the latest episodes from Season 6, you’d need to be in the UK, Spain, Greece, Hungary, Brazil, or Romania, to name a few.
Regardless of which country you reside in, you’ll need to have two things – a Netflix account and a VPN subscription. VPNs are tools that you can use to connect to servers in various countries around the world, as they assign a new IP to you from that specific location. Therefore, the sites you visit will think you are in your chosen location, rather than wherever you actually are.
When it comes to which tools you should be using, we always recommend NordVPN, because it’s simply one of the best tools we tested. They have servers in hundreds of locations around the world, great encryption protocols, and a good track record of going undetected. NordVPN also has apps for pretty much any device you own.
What you have to do
- The first thing on your list should be subscribing to NordVPN – they offer you 3 months for free and 68% OFF for the 2-year plan at $3.49 when you set up your account.
- Next, you need to pick a server that’s located in the United Kingdom, Spain, Greece, Brazil, Hungary, or Romania. Servers in Canada or Australia will work if you’re only looking for Seasons 1 through 5.
- Once the connection to the chosen server is established, you can open Netflix in a tab and browse to find Vikings in the library.
That’s it! Go binge on Vikings!
Having issues?
Unfortunately, Netflix will sometimes detect the fact that you’re using a VPN and display a warning on the webpage. If that happens to you, don’t panic! You simply have to contact NordVPN’s 24/7 live chat, and those nice folks will guide you to get an IP address that works with your chosen Netflix location.
You’re done! Of course, this very same method will allow you to view loads of content that may not be otherwise available to you. After all, it is a known fact that the Netflix library greatly varies depending on the country you’re in, so it’s fair that you’d want to watch something that you’ve heard is available for some other Netflix user, especially since we’re all paying pretty much the same prices. Using NordVPN will certainly solve that problem for you!
If you need a VPN for a short while when traveling for example, you can get our top ranked VPN free of charge. NordVPN includes a 30-day money-back guarantee. You will need to pay for the subscription, that’s a fact, but it allows full access for 30 days and then you cancel for a full refund. Their no-questions-asked cancellation policy lives up to its name.
