Disk Drill Is Completely Free Data Recovery Software For Mac
Disk Drill is a new application for Mac which not only recovers your hard drive, but also your partition, damaged files, photos, and any type of media. It can recover data from HFS/HFS+, FAT, NTFS, and other file systems right from your Mac. Apart from recovery, it also protects your data from unexpected loss by using build-in Recovery Vault.
There are two modes – Prevent Data Loss and Recover Data. First, lets have a look at preventing data loss. To prevent data loss in any partition, select a drive from the main interface and protect it with Recovery Vault. It can protect both internal partitions and external hard drives. The switch is given on the top-right corner which can be used to turn off protection at any time.
The Recovery Vault in Disk Drill recovers deleted files while saving all their properties and original locations, unlike any other Mac recovery software available out there. It runs silently in the background and recovers all types of files without being resource hungry.
To recover data, head over to it’s tab and select the partition or hard disk in which you want to recover lost data. There are a total of three steps to recover deleted and damaged files – select disk, scan the disk, and finally recover the files.
There are also options to undelete a file from recovery vault where all deleted files are stored, quick scan FAT32 and NTFS partitions, and deep scan for lost data which cannot be found otherwise.
To put it in a nutshell, it is the first complete data recovery and data protection software for Mac that is free while in beta. The application is stable, 28MB in size, and requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later.
Grab the software while it is available for free. Enjoy!
I am use kernel for mac data recovery software to scans partitions and complete all sector of the disk in order to recover every mark of the data. It’s so good & better tools with 30 days money guaranty.
Just an FYI, As of 2013 Disk Drill is NOT free! You may download the utility and identify files and partitions to recover, but if you want to recover them you must pay the $89 fee to ‘upgrade’ to pro.
Free? perhaps its an older version and as far as I know no data recovery software for Macs are free. All of them Including Stellar Phoenix, Prosoft & Disk Warrior are free to preview deleted files. To recover the data using these software one must register first.
This is so false advertising. Disk Drill is NOT completely free. What’s the point of diagnosing a drive for free if you can’t repair it? At least this company shoulf offer a one time free trial so that the user can be eventually blown away by the result and ready to spend the $90!!!
This is so wrong!!!
Yeah, I agree with DirtyD, it got my hopes up and then dashes it back to the ground when it said I have to pay if I want to recover it. I’m a second year high-school student and even if I have the money to pay, my parents are skeptical of online purchases.
Disk Drill was great up until the point where it can’t do anything for me unless I spend the $90 for the PRO version. Don’t get me wrong, the free “basic” version lets me wait a full 8-9 hours to see the data is there, then it tells me I can’t Recover a single file without upgrading to Disk Drill Pro.
Any better ideas?
I’m willing to do the whole process again, just so long as it’s *absolutely* free. I’m just recovering files on an external hard drive.
Use Recovery vault in free if you really want to protect your data. Even if you don’t buy Pro at once, it will be very helpful for you to rescue lost data. I know what i mean
