Let Mom Know Your iPhone Battery Is Low So She Doesn’t Worry

Every year Apple releases a new iPhone with a bigger, better, longer-lasting battery but no matter what, no battery is going to last forever. Unfortunately, batteries have a knack for dying when we’re running a late and no doubt many of us have been on the receiving end of several missed calls simply because our phone couldn’t turn On. It’s usually a concerned parent or spouse that’s calling but by the time you get to an electricity outlet or get home, a missing person report has been filed and a search party has been organized. Battery Share is a seriously awesome iOS app worth $0.99 in the app store that lets specific people know your phone’s battery is low. Not only does this give them peace of mind that you’re live and well, but it also lets them know not to call repeatedly as that will deplete the battery.

Battery Share works in pairs, i.e., both you and the person you want to keep up to date about your battery’s charge state need to have the app installed on your phones. Once the app has been installed, you need to add contacts to share your battery stats with them. To do so, tap the Invite button and send a request to a contact via text or iMessage, or any other supported messaging service. Your contact must allow you to receive information about the state of their battery charge and you likewise must do the same.

Once you’ve added a contact and have likewise been added by a contact, you will start seeing their current battery charge state.

The app refreshes the information regularly but you can force a refresh by tapping the refresh button at the top left. The app has a call feature that you can use if you have call minutes that can be purchased for $4.99. The feature allows you to tap a contact inside the app and call them.

If you don’t want to share your phone’s battery status but still want to receive it from your friends, tap the Me button at the bottom of the screen and turn Off ‘Share My Battery Status’.

Battery Share requires an active internet connection to send and receive information. Your iPhone must be running iOS 9 or above to be able to use this app.
