How To Get The Apple TV App Outside The US Region
Apple has just released the stable version of iOS 10.2 to users worldwide. This new version brings the Apple TV app to iOS devices. This app, meant to replace the Videos app, lets you download and watch movies from the iTunes store. It also lets you connect a TV provider account from the Settings app. The TV app is only available to users in the US region but that doesn’t mean users outside this region can’t get it. To get the Apple TV app outside the US region, you need to change the App Store country.
The App Store lets developers restrict apps by region. To get the Apple TV app outside the US region, you need to change which country the App Store app shows you.
The only problem with this solution is that Apple IDs are linked permanently to one country. If your account is linked to a different country’s store, you will not be able to use it to download apps from the US store. To do so, you need to create a new Apple ID.
You can recycle your Gmail or Hotmail ID when creating a nee Apple ID. To do so, add a period anywhere in the middle. Many services consider the email to be a new one. Any messages sent to the address are still delivered to your original account. For example, if your email ID is example@gmail.com, you can use exam.ple@gmail.com to create a new Apple ID.
In the App Store app, Switch to the US store and sign out. Tap the ‘Buy’ or ‘Get’ button under a free app. When prompted, create your new Apple ID. Once you’ve done that, search for the Apple TV app and download it. It should automatically download to your device and replace the Videos app. If it doesn’t, you can download it from the App Store.
We’d also like to bust the myth that the Apple TV app cannot be downloaded from the App Store once you remove it from your device. On iOS 10.2 beta 7, I was able to delete and install the Apple TV app on my iPhone 6 three different times.
