Enable iPhone Camera Flash In Panorama Mode With Flashorama
iOS 6’s panorama mode might be the most underrated feature to come with the platform’s latest update. A lot of apps allow users to capture panoramas pretty impressively, but having this feature in your iPhone’s stock camera really kills the competition. Despite all its awesomeness, the panorama has a glaring omission: you cannot use it unless the ambient lighting is perfect. Wen shooting ordinary photos or even videos, it is possible to turn on your camera’s flash any time you want, but the option is strangely missing in panorama mode. So, yet again, Cydia has to come to the rescue! Flashorama is a new tweak that adds the flash toggle to the panorama view in iPhone. You can control the flash before beginning to shoot, or even while moving the device around to capture the panorama.
As Flashorama has been designed to work with the stock Camera app, only download the tweak if you own one of the following devices running iOS 6 or above:
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 5
- iPod touch 5G
To lets users keep the functionality in their control, the tweak adds a menu of its own to the stock Settings app. There are just a couple of toggles there, along with a few lines of description for each of them. The ‘Flash-in-Panorama’ toggle is simply meant to enable or disable the tweak completely. The second option lets you decide whether you want the flash to automatically turn off when the panorama has been shot completely, or stay on after it has been enabled.
To see if everything has been configured correctly, launch the Camera app and enter panorama mode. The new flash button should appear in the top-left corner of the screen. The position could have been more comfortable at the bottom of the screen though, since trying to reach the button at its current position during an ongoing session upsets the image sequence at times.
Although the panorama mode doesn’t work in landscape mode, the flash button added to the interface still changes its orientation when you tilt your device. This shows the developer’s attention to detail, and also makes the tweak perfect for use if you are employing the panorama mode to capture ‘vertoramas’.
Flashorama is a free tweak, and the options it offers make it perfect for everyday use, so do give it a try if you have a compatible device. The tweak can be downloaded from the BigBoss repo of Cydia store.
