How to Reset Notes Password With Sure Shot Method

The Notes app for iPhone and iPad comes with a great feature — locking your notes with passwords or biometrics to keep them private. It allows you to secure the Notes from unauthorized access.

However, forgetting your password could mean trouble as you’ll be locked out of the notes. In that case, even Apple won’t be able to help you to get access to the locked content.

If you enter a wrong password, Notes does offer a hint. But, it only works when you’ve set a strong hint during the Notes password set up. But, don’t worry. The short video below and blog will tell you how to reset Notes password like a pro.

How to Reset Notes Password on iPhone

Whether you have biometrics enabled or not for the iPhone Notes password, you can easily reset the Notes password using these steps. Before starting, keep your Apple password handy.

  • Go to the Settings of your iPhone.
  • Tap Notes and select Password.
  • Now, tap Reset Password.
  • When prompted, enter the password of your Apple ID and tap OK.
  • When asked if you’re sure about resetting, confirm by tapping the Reset Password button.
  • On the Set Password screen, enter the new password. You need to enter the same password again in the Verify field.
  • Also, add a password hint that’ll help you remember it in the future.
  • Tap Done to complete the password reset.

Now that you’ve successfully set a new password for Notes, every note you create from now on can be unlocked using this password. Hence, you need to be careful and add a strong password hint to prevent it from forgetting. Moreover, enable biometric unlocking (Touch ID or Face ID) as a backup to retain your access to the contents of your notes.
