How to Post on Reddit Mobile
Given that Reddit has a worldwide user base of over 430 million members, 60% percent of whom access the site from their mobile device, it’s safe to assume you’re learning how to post on it from your iPhone or Android smartphone. Therefore, we’ll kick things off with these platforms.
If you’re using a web browser on your smartphone,
- Visit Reddit.com address
- Tap the hamburger button at the top-right corner to access the login or signup button if you don’t already have an account
3. Once logged in, click the pen icon next to the Use App button
4. You’ll see two options pop up beneath Text and Link. Tap the first (Text)
5. Input the subreddit under which you want to make the post or search for it; i.e., r/AskReddit
6. Input a title and type the body of the post
7. Tap the Post button at the top-right corner to make your post go live.
Meanwhile, many redditors are beginning to adopt the mobile app, which is available on iPhone and Android, albeit some would argue that it’s laced with shortcomings and that nothing beats using a browser.

- Ensure you’re signed in using the profile icon in the top-left corner
- Next, tap the + icon at the bottom of your screen
3. A menu will appear beneath, allowing you to choose your post type. Tap the one of your choice
4. Add a title and add texts if necessary
5. Hit the Next button at the top right corner
6. Choose the subreddit under which you want to post on the next screen. If you’ve already joined some of the subreddit communities, you’ll get them as suggestions. Otherwise, you can search for one using the search bar at the top
7. Finally, select tags for your post and hit the Post button
How to Post on Reddit Desktop
If you’re more of a desktop Redditor, you can use the following steps to create a post on Reddit.
- Once you’re logged in, click the Create Post box at the top of the homepage
- On the Create a Post page, click the Choose a Community drop-down and select the subreddit under which you want to post, r/technology in this screenshot
4. Choose the post type and add a title
5. Once you’re done filling in the necessary details, click the Post button next to Save Draft
6. Alternatively, once you’re logged in to Reddit, visit the subreddit under which you want to post
7. On the subreddit’s page, click Create Post or the Create Post button under the About Community section on the right pane
8. You’ll be taken to the Create a Post page from step 2. Follow the prompts thereon.
Types of Reddit Posts
Reddit has three main types of posts you can share, which are:
- Post
- Image & video
- Link
Post allows you to discuss a topic extensively while also giving you the option to include images and videos. Meanwhile, Image & Video posts will enable you to share media files while adding a simple title to indicate what it stands for.
Lastly, link posts direct users to another piece of content or a different website. You can add a title to this type of post. Interestingly, you can also add your location to a Reddit post.
How to Post Video on Reddit Without a Link
Gone are the days when, to post a video on Reddit, you’d have to upload it on a third-party website and then share or embed the link in your post. Reddit now supports native video uploading, which you can access from the Image & Video tab, provided the subreddit allows it.
Simply follow the earlier steps and select Images & Video instead of the Post tab. However, there are specific criteria a video must meet before you can upload it to Reddit. Don’t fret; they’re nothing out of the ordinary. Let’s see them below:
- Not more than 1GB in size
- Not more than 15 minutes in length
- MOV or MP4 format
How to Fair a Post on Reddit
Are you looking to make a subreddit or pose stand out among the pack? Adding flair to it is a great way to give it more context. To do this,
- While creating your post on the Create a Post page, navigate to and click the Flair drop-down next to the NSFW button
2. If you’re posting in a subreddit that allows subreddit editing, you should be able to do so by clicking the pen icon next to Post Flair
3. Once you’re done editing your flair, click Apply to save all the changes
4. You’ll be taken back to Create a Post page at this point. Select Post to make the post go live with flair.
How to Delete a Post on Reddit
Deleting a post on Reddit is pretty straightforward but different depending on where you’re accessing it. If you’re using a web browser on your desktop or mobile device,
- Click on your profile icon or photo in the top-right corner of the screen
- Click Profile and then Posts, where you’ll see all the posts you’ve made on Reddit
- Each post has a horizontal three-dot icon beneath it. Click it and select Delete to delete the post
If you’re on the Reddit mobile app,
- On the home screen, tap your avatar in the top-left corner of the screen
- Next, select My Profile
