How to Delete My AI on Snapchat
My AI is Snapchat’s built-in AI chatbot. It’s fun to play with, but it’s annoying that it sits at the top of the Chat tab. You might have noticed that it doesn’t change its position no matter how infrequently you use it, nor does it move down the list as you chat with real people.
So how do you get rid of My AI? The short answer is that you don’t! Well, not for free anyway. And even if you pay to delete My AI, it actually still sticks around in the background. Keep reading to see what your options are.
How to delete My AI on Snapchat
If you’ve tried to delete My AI like you can delete other friends, you’ll quickly find that there isn’t an option to remove it or to block it. Your only option is to hide My AI, which you can do if you’re a paying Snapchat user.
- Subscribe to Snapchat+ if you aren’t already.
- Switch to the Chat tab. This is where all your conversations are held.
- Press-and-hold My AI (or whatever name you’re using for the AI if you’ve edited it).
- Go to Chat Settings > Clear from Chat Feed > Clear.
Tip: Snapchat+ subscribers can also unpin My AI on Snapchat. To do that, open the Snapchat+ banner on your profile page and toggle My AI so it says Unpinned.
How to delete My AI for free
If you’re really serious about hiding or deleting My AI, you can go with the nuclear option of deleting your whole Snapchat account. It works for free and paid accounts alike.
Maybe you have a vendetta against AI. We won’t judge you. Just know, however, that erasing your whole account just to delete My AI is kind of a silly thing to do. Unfortunately, it will show right back up if you ever make a new account.
Alternatively, if the chatbot doesn’t feel the same as it used to, it could be due to a bio update. You’re able to edit the personality of My AI from its settings. To delete that version of My AI, simply erase the bio or write up a new one. Access that setting by tapping the AI’s face on the Chat tab and then selecting Bio.
How to delete data from My AI
OK, so you can’t hide or delete My AI as a free user, and you can’t even totally get rid of it as a paying user. The messaging aspect, though, is very similar to how it works with a real person. Not only can you change when Snapchat messages expire with the AI, you can also erase individual messages or delete everything you’ve sent and received with My AI.
Erasing individual messages works the same way it does with any of your Snapchat friends: Press-and-hold the message and tap Delete > Delete Chat.
If you’d rather erase all My AI messages, you’ll need to go into the settings. Here’s how it works on Android:
- Open your profile and tap the settings gear at the top.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Clear My AI Data.
- Tap Confirm to complete the deletion.
It’s similar on iOS: From your profile, go to settings and then Clear Data > Clear My AI Data.
Is My AI a real person on Snapchat?
No, My AI is a chatbot. That means it’s an automated system that uses artificial intelligence to communicate with you. There are far too many Snapchat users who use My AI simultaneously, likely all day long, for there to be real people behind it.
It does seem real, though. It can process pretty much anything a real person can understand, including text, voice messages, and snaps.
If you’re struggling to come up with ways to communicate with the chatbot, here are tips on writing good AI prompts.
