Where’s the Pot Boy in Elden Ring?
In June 2021, a trailer for Elden Ring came that introduced us to the main protagonist, the setting, and gave us a glimpse of the lore behind Elden Ring. However, it wasn’t the dragon, the gorgeous vistas, or the thrilling combat that people devoted entire fandoms to. It was a short clip of a sentient pot moving across the screen for a handful of moments. It has since been dubbed Elden Ring Pot Boy (even though he has a name and it’s Iron Fist Alexander), and here is how you can find him.
Elden Ring’s Pot Boy can be found early in the game, in one of the corners of Limgrave. He’s got a multi-stage quest waiting for you that involves traveling as far as the Caelid Wilds, which can be a challenge if your Tarnished is new to the Lands Between.
Elden Ring Pot Boy Location
Here is how you can get to Pot Boy:
- Reach the central part of Limgrave, located in the northern section of Stormhill. Check out the map for specifics.
- Here you will find an enemy encampment and a site of grace
- Once there, look nearby for a bridge with a Mad Pumpkin Head.
- Cross this bridge to find Pot Boy stuck in a ditch. You will know you’re close when you hear him crying out for help.
After a brief conversation, Pot Boy will request that you help dislodge him. Here is how.
- Get behind Pot Boy and face his back.
- Hit him with a charged attack a few times.
- Watch him get loose.
This is the first time you will encounter Elden Ring’s Pot Boy. There are eight interactions in total that span the entire breadth of the map.
Once Pot Boy is loose, he will introduce himself as Alexander. Cherish the conversation you have with him, as it is a rare lighthearted exchange in the otherwise bleak setting of Elden Ring.
At the end of this conversation, he will tell you where you can find him next. While this quest can be done early on with next to no preparation, additional quests will become increasingly challenging. The upside is that you can call on Pot Boy to help you with certain boss fights.
Pot Boy’s quests aren’t part of the main game. However, they are intertwined with the main quest tangentially.
If you want to pursue this quest, you can find Alexander, the Pot Boy, in these locations. Some locations are straightforward. Others will only appear after a few other events have taken place.
- Western Stormhill
- Gael tunnel, Caelid (optional)
- Redmane Castle and Starscourge Radahn
- Acquiring oil pots (not a location, rather a quest item to craft)
- Liurnia (you’ll find both, Alexander and Jarburg)
- Gelmir
- Fire Giant boss fight (you can Summon Alexander here)
- Jarburg (last Pot Boy quest).
