How to Make Paths in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
If you want to know how to make paths in Animal Crossing, you’ll need to unlock the ability first by getting the Island Designer app on your Nookphone. We’ll cover all the steps to reach that point and then go over your numerous path design options. Let’s dive right in.
How to Build a Path in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The Island Designer phone app lets you do all kinds of creative customizations, not just making paths, so it’s well worth unlocking. Here are the steps:
How to Unlock the Island Designer App
- First, you’ll need to unlock the app on your Nookphone. To get it your island needs to be fully upgraded, with the Residents Services building and other facets of the island maxed out
- You also need to have at least eight residents living on your island and get KK Slider to host a concert there
- After this, Tom Nook will set up the app on your Nookphone. Then you’ll be able to customize the landscape to your liking
How to Make Paths in Animal Crossing
- Open the app
- Select the Build Path option and select the path type you want
- Press the A button to lay the path
- You can smooth out the path’s edges by pushing A again, rounding out the corners
- If you don’t like the path you’ve made, you can lay grass over it to effectively delete it, or just re-do it with another path laid over it. For custom paths, you can use A to delete it
Stone Path ACNH, and other Path Types
At first, the basic Dirt type is the only one available. The others are unlocked with Nook Miles. Here are the paths:
- Stone
- Grass
- Sand
- Dirt
- Arched Tile
- Brick
- Dark Dirt
- Terra-cotta
- Wooden
- Custom designs
Tips for Creating Paths in Animal Crossing: New Horizon
- Make your own Animal Crossing road design through custom options
- When smoothing out the edges of the path, you can edit the corner piece once again to create a perfectly smooth edge. However, you’ll have to re-lay the path if you make a mistake, there’s no undo option
- There are places where you cannot lay paths, like the beach, inclines in the Resident Services building, entrance of Nook’s Cranny, etc.
- You can plant palm trees on sand paths
Now that you know how to make paths in Animal Crossing, play around with your designs to really emphasize houses, buildings, bridges, whatever feels right to you.
