How to Make Blue Roses in Animal Crossing: New Horizons: 4 Easy Steps
Roses are famous for their magical red color, but they can also be blue, which doesn’t take anything away from their magnificence. Instead, they help beautify your garden. Blue roses symbolize mystery or achieving the impossible, and that’s why they’re great to have in your garden.
Growing blue roses in New Horizons requires some crossbreeding processes and patience, and how quickly you get them depends on which flower types are native to your island. Either way, this guide simplifies the entire procedure so you can get your island beaming with floral beauty in no time.
How to Grow Blue Roses on Your Island
Previous installations of the Animal Crossing series have always required players to grow primary rose variants before getting a blue one. And that’s the exact trail New Horizons follows.
There are four stages to go through to get blue roses eventually. And, frankly speaking, there are chances of the offspring roses being genetically wrong in color, just like in real-life botany. Do not fret, however; the following steps will help increase your chances of growing blue roses as efficiently as possible:
Step 1: Get Seeds to Grow Roses
You’ll first need to grow one of the primary roses in the game, which are red, white, and yellow roses. You can get their seeds from Leif when he visits your island, but your best bet is to buy some in the cabinet at the Nook’s Cranny.
If roses are one of the flowers native to your island, you can use those instead.
Step 2: Make Orange and Purple Roses
Your flowers should have grown by now. The next line of action is to separate the white roses from the yellow and red ones. Then, get a watering can, fill it with water, and water each flower group separately. Do this till you notice a different breed growing from any of the separated groups.
Orange roses sprout from the red/yellow roses, while purple roses sprout from the white roses.
Step 3: Grow Red Hybrid Roses
You’re getting closer to landing blue roses at this point since red hybrid roses are crucial to getting blue roses. Once you have orange and purple roses from the previous step, plant them next to each other in a horizontal manner and water them every day.
Once red roses sprout from this crossbreeding, collect two pieces and move on to the next step. While the red roses here may look similar to the basic red roses, note that they’re different, and you can’t get blue roses with a normal red rose.
Step 4: Grow Blue Roses
Finally, you’re closer than ever to getting blue roses. All that’s left to do is grow the two red hybrid roses from earlier and water them daily. They’ll eventually produce blue roses. That’s just about it!

Final Notes
And that’s how to make blue roses in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Now, you want to treat the sprouted blue rose as a treasure. Ensure to plant it away from other flowers and water it every day till it begins to multiply. If you can visit a friend’s island with their Dodo Code, you can also collect blue roses from them if they have them on their island.
