How to Get a Bridge in Animal Crossing: An Easy-to-Follow Guide

Need to build a bridge on your island? Bet you’re already picturing how much this piece of infrastructure will make life easier on your island. But a bridge does more than just help you cross rivers and locations on your island: it can also improve the appearance of your Island.

While building one costs a lot of Bells (money) and is time-consuming, you’ll find the endeavor worthwhile and fulfilling once you’re done with it. Got a few minutes? Let’s go through the steps to build a bridge in Animal Crossing together.

Tom Nook is at your beck and call when you need virtually anything in New Horizons. And the same can be said for building bridges in the game. You’ll need to visit him at the Residents Services building. And we’re not talking about the makeshift tent that he uses from the start of the game; it has to be the upgraded Residents Services building.

You’ll need to have built a museum, constructed the Nook’s Cranny, and invited a minimum of three new residents to your island to get the upgraded Residents Services building. Once you have it, you’ll see a chair in front of Tom Nook when next you visit him. Sit on the chair and select Let’s talk infrastructure.

You’ll be able to choose to build a bridge in the next menu. There are different bridge types to choose from, each of which has a different price. If you have the asking price, you’ll be able to select the construction site immediately, and work will begin on the bridge.

The following are the types of available bridges and their prices in Bells:

  • Log Bridge – 98,000
  • Stone Bridge – 168,000
  • Suspension Bridge – 129,000
  • Wooden Bridge – 168,000
  • Iron Bridge – 228,000
  • Brick Bridge – 198,000
  • Zen Bridge – 228,000
  • Red Zen Bridge – 228,000

To find or pay for the bridge, approach the character next to the bridge once you’ve selected its construction site. The bridge is typically completed in a real-life 24-hour, but you can shorten the process by adjusting your Nintendo Switch system time.

If you’re still relatively new to the game, you’ll get the option to build a makeshift bridge once you’ve invited up to three residents to your island. Doing this will prompt Tom Nook to call your attention to the need for a new, first bridge, which requires a few materials to come to life. You’ll need:

You can get these materials by hitting rocks and plants on your island with an axe or shovel. Follow the prompts that appear on your screen thereon to complete bridge construction on your island.

Final Notes

And that’s how to make a bridge in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Easy-peasy. As handy and aesthetic as bridges are for one’s island, I sometimes find myself demolishing them, especially if the construction site isn’t ideal. You can replicate this by navigating through the Let’s talk infrastructure menu at the Residents Services building.
