How to Break Rocks in Animal Crossing: Tips and Tricks that Work

To break rocks in Animal Crossing, you need to eat fruits and strike them with a stone axe. Eating fruits like Turnips helps your character gain enough strength to move rocks by breaking them.

Just as you may find rocks in random places in real life, they also spawn naturally at town creations.

But, sometimes, they just get in your way.

Imagine you want to create a path, start a garden or even build a bridge; you’d often find a piece of rock in the desired area.

Worse, 5-10 rocks will randomly spawn in any area, making them hard to ignore. The only solution is to break them.

To do that, you will learn how to find the required tools for breaking rocks and why you should not break every rock you find.

Firstly;

You need two tools to break rocks in Animal Crossing

Before attempting to break a rock, eat fruit to gain a buff. Toggle open your inventory, select a piece of fruit and select the option to eat one.

You’ll notice how the little counting bar on the upper left of your screen increases by one. If you eat 10 cherries, the counter will grant you 10 power buffs, the maximum. You should use the strength gained to refill the counter.

What can you do with 10 power buffs?

Each of these strength buffs will allow you to break rocks. That’s where you need a stone axe.

If you already have a stone axe in your inventory, walk over to the rock you wish to break and strike. Since you have the strength buff advantage, you do not need a special technique to strike rocks

However, breaking one rock requires one fruit power. So, you need to consume the maximum amount to break 10 rocks.

If you do not have a stone axe yet, get one for 3,000 Nook Miles on the “Pretty Good Tools Recipes” In order to do this, you need to have settled your initial loan of 5,000 Nook Miles.

If you can’t achieve that either, you can replace the axe with a shovel. Shovels are best known for gardening and removing trees in Animal Crossing. But they are also effective for removing rocks.

Warning: Breaking every rock in your path will set you back

That’s because only one rock can respawn per day.

When you break a rock, it will respawn in a random spot on your Island. So, if you break 8, it will take 8 days to get them back on your Island.

While breaking rocks in an inconvenient spot is necessary, having rocks on your Island is vital. Remember how you can collect bells from money rocks and even use rocks to farm Iron Nuggets.

Therefore, breaking one rock per day and repeating the routine until all rocks blocking a spot are removed is the best practice.

That’s all about breaking rocks in Animal Crossing. If you found this guide handy, you may want to check another on how to get more rocks in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
