How to Add Friends in Animal Crossing
Adding friends in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is pretty easy, but the feature to do so won’t unlock until your second day on your island, after which you’ll be able to invite people from other villages to your island and add them up as friends.
Here’s how to go about it:
- Launch Animal Crossing: New Horizons on your Nintendo Switch
- Check the map and travel down to the bottom half of your village, using your character icon on the map as a guide
- Locate and enter Dodo’s Airlines
- Head to the desk and initiate a conversation with Orville
- Select I want visitors from the options. The other option, I wanna fly, enables you to visit the island of other players
6. Next, choose either of the options, Via Local Play and Via Online Play
Quick Note: Local Play allows you to invite friends nearby via Bluetooth, while Online Play lets you search for people online and invite them over.
7. Select Roger and agree to the terms and conditions that you must be respectful to other players
8. Next, select either of the options, All my friends! and Invite via Dodo Code™
Quick Note: A Dodo Code™ is a unique ID you can send to other players for them to visit your island. All my Friends!, on the other hand, opens up the inviting portal for players already on your friends list.
9. Friends who join via your code or by being on your list will be able to interact with you and wander around
10. Now time to add new visitors to your friends list: open your Nook Phone by pressing ZL in the top-left corner of the screen

12. Choose your preferred player and then select Ask to Be Best Friends
The selected player will become one of your friends once they accept your request. However, note that keeping them on your friends list means they’ll be able to do anything without restrictions when they visit your island. You might want to be wary of the type of players you put on your best friends list.
