Elden Ring Berserk References

Berserk is a beautifully illustrated Manga, set in the age of knights, kings, and demons. The director of Elden Ring, Hidetaka Miyazaki, is a huge fan of Berserk, and has a reputation for referencing the Manga in his games. Elden Ring’s Berserk comparisons are no different.

Here are some of the references to Berserk that some people have found online:

The Greatsword

The Greatsword is a great sword!

In Berserk, the hero, Guts, single-handedly fights with a Greatsword as big as he is.

This sword can be found, in Elden Ring,  by looting a chest in Caelid. You will need 31 points of strength to wield this weapon, in one hand. With fewer points, it can be wielded in two.

Even its description reads, “Though handling it requires the wielder to have surpassed the realm of the merely human, it is precisely that the weapon is used to slaughter even inhuman foes.”

Hill of Swords

There is a hill in Elden Ring, where the ground is impaled with swords. It is meant as a medieval memorial to fallen soldiers. In Berserk, there is a similar hill. This is a tribute to the Band of the Hawk, a mercenary force.

This field of swords does not have a formal name, nor can these colossal stone swords be interacted with. It is widely considered an homage to Miura, the creator of the Manga, who passed away at 54 in 2021.

Blaidd The Half Wolf

In Elden Ring there is a character named Blaidd the Half-Wolf. The character is almost quite literal in that he is a cross between a man and a wolf, i.e., Half-Wolf. His appearance is nothing ordinary for Elden Ring. However, it has garnered sizeable appeal from Berserk fans as the character brings Guts’ Berserker armor to mind.

The significance of this armor is that it draws from its wielder’s negative emotions to imbue them with incredible strength in the Manga. When Guts fed the armor with his rage, it gave a wolf-like appearance. This is where these lanes merge.

To get this armor, you’ve to do the following:

  1. Complete the Moonlight Greatsword quest chain.
  2. Teleport to a location called Ranni’s Rise.
  3. Exit through the front door.
  4. Just outside, you will see Blaidd the Half-Wolf walking around.
  5. He is upset about you killing Ranni, again, and he will attack you.
  6. Defeat him in combat.
  7. He will drop his armor.
  8. Pick up his armor, except his helmet. That is located somewhere else in that area

However, you won’t get the wolf helmet this way. Without that, the whole purpose is defeated. To do that:

  1. Travel to the Seluvis’s Rise, located in the southeast of the same area you are in.
  2. Here you will see a building.
  3. Please do not enter the building. Instead, climb it using the wall on the left-hand side of the building.
  4. Once atop the building, you will see the Black Wolf Mask next to a dead body.
  5. Collect, equip, and enjoy the rest of your game.
