How to Reset Voicemail Password on Android
The voicemail password is there to provide a level of security between the outside world and your private voicemails. This password is required when you call to access your voicemail, so it’s important to know what it is and how to reset voicemail password on Android if you think it’s been compromised.
Fortunately, the process to reset a voicemail password is simple and even easier than it is to change the voicemail message on Android. In fact, on some devices, there’s a way to do so right from the Phone app settings. If you can’t reset your voicemail PIN because you don’t remember it, you can get a new voicemail password, but it takes a little more work (still totally doable!).
How to Reset Your Voicemail Password on Android Phone
This process should work the same on all Android phones, but we’re using a Google Pixel with Android 13 here. Note that resetting your voicemail password will not delete your voice messages or your greetings or any other settings.
- Open the Phone app.
- Select the three-dot menu at the top right.
- Choose Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Voicemail from the GENERAL section.
- Tap Change PIN from the voicemail settings screen.
- Enter your current voicemail password, and then tap Continue.
- Type the new voicemail passcode, and then tap Continue.
- Confirm the new PIN, and then tap Ok to reset voicemail password.

The steps outlined above work if you know your voicemail password, but if you have forgotten it, you’ll need to contact your carrier:
How to Reset Verizon Voicemail Password
There are two ways to reset voicemail password with Verizon. This first method is easiest:
- Dial *611.
- Enter any requested information you’re asked for.
- Say Reset voicemail password when asked why you’re calling.
- Follow any other prompts to reset the voicemail password.
Or, you can use the Verizon app:
- Open the app and tap the Account tab at the bottom.
- Select Edit profile & settings at the top.
- Tap Mobile, if prompted.
- Select Manage voicemail password.
- Choose either Create my own password (and then pick one) or Choose a password for me.
- Tap Update at the bottom to save the voicemail password.
How to Reset AT&T Voicemail Password
- From your account overview, open My wireless.
- Scroll to My Devices & add-ons, and select your phone.
- Choose Manage my device.
- Look in Device options & settings, choose Reset voicemail password, and then follow the prompts.
How to Reset T-Mobile Voicemail Password
Dial #793# to reset your password to the last four digits of your phone number. You can change the voicemail password the next time you check your password. Dial #796# to disable the voicemail password.
How to Reset the Voicemail Password From Other Carriers
If you don’t use Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile, you can still reset your voicemail password, you just have to reach out to the company manually. To call your carrier, or chat or email with a support representative, head over to Google to search for the company’s website. Look there for a contact page.
For example, if you have Boost Mobile, their website says to call them at 833-502-6678 to reset a forgotten voicemail password.
Alternatively, if you don’t mind poking around in your voicemail settings, there might be a screen somewhere that talks about the PIN or the password, similar t the way it looks in those directions above.
